12 volt brass, Stainless Steel or Plastic solenoid valves can be 2/2 2 port 2 positions normally closed or open, 3/2 way 3 port 2 positions normally closed; normally open or universal, 5/2 5 port 2 position single acting (mono stable single coil), double acting (bi-stable double coil) or 5/3 way 5 port 3 position direct acting or pilot pressure assisted. There is no size limit for this voltage and so port connection sizes would include anything such as 1/8" 0.125 inch, 1/4" 0.25 inch, 3/8" 0.375 inch, 1/2" 0.5 inch,3/4" 0.75 inch, 1" inch, 11/4" 1.25 inch, 11/2" 1.5 inch,2" inch, 21/2" 2.5 inch and 3" inch either with BSP or NPT thread or flange suitable for most air, water, Light Oil, Gas, Vacuum, Steam, Oil, Propane, LPG, Petrol,Diesel, Acid and Alkali gaseous and fluid media.
12vDC is a direct current as is ideal for low power, remote battery operated stations, DIY and domestic projects or general purpose and domestic applications where water or general public, people or children would have access so the low voltage 12 volt power supply would offer greatly increased safety as opposed to the far more dangerous 230vAC Mains supply.
Hung Diaphragm also known as Assisted Lift solenoid valves require no pressure differential and will open and close regardless of pressure. These are ideal for low pressure gravity fed systems and closed loop systems or just where pressure differentials are simply unknown or could be variable.
Servo Assisted also known as Floating Diaphragm solenoid valves require a minimum pressure differential and will only open or close if the inlet pressure is al least 0.2 to 0.5 bar (7psi) higher than the outlet pressure. Ideal for open to atmosphere and higher pressure systems.
2/2 Way Normally Closed - 1 inlet port and 1 outlet port (2 port), valve can be open or closed (2 position)- solenoid valve stays closed, when 12 volts is applied the 12v solenoid valve opens allowing flow of media. When power is switched off the 12 volt solenoid valve automatically closed (fail safe closed) and thus the flow of media stops.
2/2 Way Normally Open - 1 inlet port and 1 outlet port (2 port), valve can be open or closed (2 position)- solenoid valve stays open, when 12 volts is applied the 12v solenoid valve closes stopping the flow of media. When power is switched off the 12 volt solenoid valve automatically opens (fail-safe open) and thus the flow of media starts.
3/2 Normally Closed - 3 ports 2 positions (port1 inlet, port 2 outlet port 3 exhaust) for either pneumatic cylinder actuation or as a diverting solenoid valve. Without 12 volt supply inlet port is fail-safe closed outlet port can vet to exhaust port. When 12vdc is applied inlet port opens allowing flow to outlet port, exhaust port is closed
For example 3/2 normally closed 12vdc solenoid valve connected to spring return actuator. When no 12vdc power is applied remaining compressed air in the actuator passes back though outlet port and vents to atmosphere through exhaust port of the solenoid valve so actuator can spring return to its closed position.
When 12vdc is applied the inlet opens to outlet and compressed air can enter the actuator causing it to move to the open position. When power is removed again the inlet port closes and outlet port can vent to exhaust port allowing the actuator to vent compressed so that it may return to the closed position.
These 12vDC Solenoid Valves are fitted with interchangeable coils so the same 12vDC solenoid valve can easily be changed to 24vDC, 24vAC, 110vAC or even 220,230 or 240vAC or any other voltage required for the application
